Frequently Asked Questions about the Door to Door Photo Fund Drive...
please contact us with any additional questions you may have! |
What are the fundraisers wearing? We have a dress policy at Mutual Funding Inc. We allow our fundraisers to wear nice, casual clothes and to dress for the weather. Many departments/squads will issue out shirts, hats, patches and/or jackets for the fundraisers. This makes the fundraiser stand out even more while making the community feel at ease when answering the door, especially at night. Our fundraisers are also issued and MUST show a photo ID for the project which has the following information on it: their name and photo, department or squads name, address, and phone number. The ID is either worn on shirt on attached to clipboard. What do they say at the doors? Our fundraisers must follow a script. It states the following: We are here on behalf of the department or squad. They are raising funds for equipment, they are asking for donations of $35.00/$50.00 (depending on agreed on amount) or whatever you feel is appropriate, and everyone making a donation receives a free 10 x 13 family portrait taken at the station. Can we count on your support? The fundraiser does everything in the third person so they don't misrepresent the department or squad. The fundraiser also has a letter signed by the department/squad's President, Chief or fundraiser chairperson on their clipboard that states the exact same thing they just explained. Our fundraisers are allowed to work everyday between 10:00AM to 9:00PM. The majority of the fundraising however takes place between 4:00-8:55PM, when most people are home. Can people mail in a donation? Yes, we encourage people who feel uneasy giving at the door, or who would rather donate at a later time to please mail in their donation, and they still receive a photo coupon postcard allowing them to take advantage of the free 10 x 13 family portrait. Our fundraisers will even make a special trip back to that persons door to present them with an envelope with the fundraisers name on it. All we ask is that the envelopes be turned over to the manager at settlement which allows us to credit the donation. What if someone calls with an inquiry? Most people who call the station are just making sure the fund drive is legitimate We try to make people feel at ease at the door and ask them to call if they have any questions at all about the fund drive. If someone has an inquiry that requires more assistance we ask for the volunteer taking the call to please get their name, address, phone number, and the MFI district manager will follow up with a personal call to address the inquiry. What do we need to do on the day of the photo shoot? Shoots are 11:00AM-7:00PM on Saturdays and Sundays and 4:00PM-8:00PM on Mondays-Fridays. We need the room open at least one hour prior to the scheduled shoot for our photographers) to setup. We ask that the room be clean with some chairs out for people waiting while leaving enough space for our photographers to be able to conduct their business. Banquet or bingo halls, large meeting rooms and engine bays seem to work best for this. What do we need to do on the day of the portrait viewing? Shows are 11:00AM-7:00PM on Saturdays and Sundays and 4:00PM-8:00PM on Mondays-Fridays. We need the room open at least one hour prior to the scheduled shoot for our portrait consultants to setup. We ask that the room be clean with some chairs and tables out for people to view the photog and chairs for those waiting to view their photos. Again, banquet or bingo halls, large meeting rooms and engine bays seem to work best for this. Group shoots and banquets: With advance notice, we will be happy to take a group shot (FREE of charge, framed 16 x 20 on canvas) of your department/squad. We ask that group shots be taken 1 ½ hours prior to the scheduled shoot. For banquets we provide you a photographer (FREE of charge) who will take (1) FREE 8 x 10 portrait of each couple. Please contact us for more information on group shoots and banquets. Web address and advertising: Before we start a drive we will either place a paid ad or a free public service announcement in the local newspaper to inform the community about the upcoming fund drive. We are also happy to include your web address on all letters and fliers that the fundraisers use during your drive- we know the Internet is an excellent tool for letting the public know that there is a fund drive in progress and for picking up new recruits as well! Thank you for all the hard work you do for your community by volunteering your time and service day and night. So many take for granted what they have, like volunteers. It's not until an emergency happens to them or someone they know, that many appreciate what you men and women do everyday to help people. We hope the funds we are able to raise for your department/squad go a long way in improving and updating your facilities and equipment. Simply sit back, relax and let us serve you! |
